"Day after day let the yogi practice harmony of soul: in a secret place, in deep solitude, master of his mind, hoping for nothing, desiring nothing." -- Bhagavad Gita
Influenced by the Ashtanga and Iyengar traditions, Tina focuses on anatomical purpose and muscular-skeletal alignment in her teaching style. She enjoys teaching both a strong, slow-moving vinyasa flow and a deep stilling “yin” yoga that consists of long-held relaxed floor postures, stretching and stimulating connective tissues in the joints.
Tina Helton is a Certified Yoga Instructor, Personal Trainer, and Adjunct Professor of Kinesiology and Health Studies at the University of Central Oklahoma. She has been teaching yoga for five years and consistently practicing for more than ten years. She is a graduate of Cornell University, where she studied Eastern and Western Philosophy, Psychology, and Health Sciences. Born and raised in New York City, Tina moved to Oklahoma in 1998 to be with her life partner, University of Oklahoma Law Professor Taiawagi Helton.
